With the MAN SM 152 , MAN (chassis) and Göppel (body) brought a midibus onto the market in 1989 , the design and style of which was based on the VÖV - standard public service buses of the second generation.

Only a few of these midibuses were built compared to the normal standard bus. As early as 1990 it had competition from the MAN NM 152 low-floor midibus , which can also be seen as a successor. Production was then stopped in 1992.

In the meantime, the SM 152 have been taken out of service by most transport companies and are mostly only used by private bus operators or abroad.
