MB Barter & Trading

The MB Barter & Trading SA was an in-family plastic distributor, in September 2018 officially with the REHAU GmbH merged, which was responsible for global procurement of production material of the REHAU Group. The two Swiss companies merged to form the globally active Meraxis Group, which has officially been on the market since July 1, 2019.

Company history

MB Barter & Trading SA in Kilchberg was entered in the commercial register for the first time on September 21, 1982 . Originally, MB Barter still did trade and barter deals with goods of all kinds, but especially compensation deals with chemical products and other raw materials . Part of the company name was also derived from the barter business. After moving from Kilchberg to Zurich and later to Thalwil , MB Barter moved to the raw materials trading center in Zug in 1996 . With a turnover of 1 billion US dollars in 2015, the MB Barter Group was ranked 161st of the 500 largest companies in Switzerland.

In October 2017, MB invested as a financing and marketing partner in the Indian company JBF Industries, one of the ten largest PET manufacturers in the world: With the financial help, JBF was able to restart its production facility in Geel, Belgium , which was threatened with closure in the course of restructuring . JBF continues to be a strategic partner of Meraxis today.

In 2018, MB Barter & Trading SA was taken over by REHAU Verwaltungszentrale AG in order to found the global provider of polymer-based solutions Meraxis. The combination of the integrated REHAU know-how of materials, processes and applications in connection with the relevant trading and distribution competence of MBT resulted in a link between complementary core competencies in technological polymer solutions.

The new company Meraxis supplies companies from all branches of industry with polymers and polymer-related products for various production processes. The plastics distributor also advises customers on the selection of suitable materials for a wide variety of production processes. Thomas Endres, one of the founding members of MB Barter, is now a member of the Board of Directors of the Meraxis Group. His son Philipp Endres, formerly CEO and member of the board of directors of MB Barter, is now deputy. CEO of Meraxis.
