MC Guestrow
The MC Güstrow is a motorsport club in Güstrow that specializes in speedway sports . The association was founded in 1963. The club was by far the most successful motorsport club in the GDR . Over 70 national championship titles were won in the GDR, in youth, team, pair and individual championships. Even after reunification, the club is very successful. In 2002 and 2003 the title in the Speedway Bundesliga was won. Added to this is the third place in 1997 and the two second places in 2004 and 2007. Although they actually won the final of the German championship in 2007, they were deducted 6 points because they made a mistake in the team line-up.
In 2008 the MC Güstrow did not start a Bundesliga team. The reasons for this were frequent rule changes by the DMSB and the club's financial situation. For the 2009 season, however, a Bundesliga team from Güstrow is registered again.
