The Dworzec MDA w Krakowie (de: MDA-Omnibusbahnhof Krakau ) is the central bus station (ZOB) of the Polish city of Krakow in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship . MDA stands for Małopolskie Dworce Autobusowe , in German: Omnibus stations in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship . It has 32 bus platforms on two levels. Long-distance buses run from the central bus station to all major cities in Poland and Europe.
location
The central bus station is centrally located on ulica Bosniacka in the immediate vicinity of Kraków's main train station to the west . The car park is located on the roof of the main train station or the Galeria Krakowska department store . The old town of Krakow is located on the other side of the main train station and can be reached on foot from the central bus station through an underpass.
history
The first central bus station in Krakow was built in 1929 on plac św. Ducha . It was relocated to plac Zgody west of the main train station in 1950 . Today's central bus station was created in 2005 as part of the KCK ( Krakowskie Centrum Komunikacyjne , in German: Krakauer Kommunikationzentrum ), when the Galeria Krakowska department store was built on the site of the former central bus station. The building contractor was Budimex-Dromex SA and the cost of the construction was PLN 24 million . It has been managed by Małopolskie Dworce Autobusowe SA since 2013 .
Waiting room
There are two waiting rooms. The larger one is open during the day from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. The smaller one is open to passengers throughout. Both levels are connected by elevators, escalators and stairs.
Transport links
The ZOB is connected to the main train station and the Kraków Krakowski Szybki Tramwaj tram ( Dworzec Główny Tunel station in German: Hauptbahnhof tunnel ) through an underpass. Not far from the lower level of the central bus station on ulica Wita Stwosza there is a bus stop for the Kraków city transport. From there, buses run to Krakow Airport, among others . The journey time is around forty minutes and the ticket currently (as of autumn 2017) costs the equivalent of around one euro. Private shuttles also run to Katowice Airport from the central bus station . The journey time is around one and a half hours and the ticket costs around ten euros, depending on the provider. There are also Krakow tram stops near the central bus station on Pawia and Lubicz streets .
