The MDR cube is a building in Leipzig . It was designed by the Dresden architect Peter Kulka and completed in 2001. The cube shines black and has an irregular roof structure. It mainly serves for rehearsals and sound recordings for the MDR Radio Choir Leipzig and the MDR Symphony Orchestra .

In the cube there are two rehearsal and recording rooms of different sizes as well as a smaller sheet music archive (for the MDR radio choir). All other rooms (instrument storage, sheet music archive, management, etc.) are located in the main building (Uniriese). There is also a direct, glazed and air-conditioned bridge connection to the Leipzig Gewandhaus , where concerts are regularly held. The musical landscape on Augustusplatz , the largest square in the city, thus forms a unit. In 2007, the cube became a Notenspur-Station 23 of the UNESCO initiative Leipzig .

In the MDR concert season 2017/18, the concert series "Würfelspiele" will take place in the MDR Würfel.
