Dana Dawson (born August 7, 1974 in New York , USA ; † August 10, 2010 there ) was an American singer , songwriter and actress .
Life
Acting
Dana Dawson began her acting career at the age of seven. She played in 1981 in the Broadway - Musical Annie . In 2000 it came back to the musical and premiered again on Broadway in 2001.
Music career
When she was fourteen, Dana Dawson won a copywriting competition. She was discovered by a French producer in New York. In 1991, in France her debut album Paris, New York and Me ( Columbia ), of which three extractions made it into the French singles chart managed.
1995 appeared album Black Butterfly ( EMI Music ), which is in thanks to its catchy Soul - Pops sold more than two million copies. It also contained the most successful Dawson single 3 Is Family , which was in the top 10 of the English charts in the same year and became a radio hit in Germany (3rd place on the airplay charts). The record company saw the singer as a competitor to Janet Jackson , Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey . Nevertheless, there was no lasting success.
In 2001 the single Nice Life was released in Great Britain , which came from the soundtrack of the Lizzie McGuire Show ( Disney Channel ).
Last years
In July 2007, Dawson married New York - born jazz saxophonist Jason Curry. The diagnosis of colon cancer was followed by a long battle against the disease. Finally, Dana Dawson died on August 10, 2010, three days after her 36th birthday, of complications from cancer.
