The MGC Dormagen-Brechte (Minigolfclub Dormagen-Brechte eV) is a Dormagen sports club with a focus on mini golf . In the current season, three club teams take part in championship league matches. The club is part of the German Mini Golf Association. The first and second men’s and one women’s teams play in the 1st minigolf Bundesliga.

history

The club was founded as MGC Fredenbaum in 1961. In 1967 the company moved to the Dortmund district of Brechte and was renamed MGC Brechte. The entry in the association register of the city of Dortmund and the recognition of the non-profit status was carried out by the approval of the statutes at the district court in April 1980. Right from the start, the club's athletes were among the more successful in this sport. In the sixties it was the youngsters and in the seventies the women who achieved numerous national and international titles. The men have been the club's figurehead since the mid-eighties. In addition, the club provided many national players who took part in European and world championships. In the course of 2007, the financing and maintenance of the nationwide gaming operations turned out to be more and more difficult. Here a strange opportunity presented itself, which was also unusual at the same time. Because a merger of two sports clubs that are more than 100 km apart has not happened too often. The MGC Brechte merged with the 1st MGC Dormagen on January 1st, 2008 .

The 1st MGC Dormagen was founded on May 1st, 1986. On February 11th, the entry in the register of associations of the city of Neuss followed . Just one month after the association was founded, the application was submitted to the city of Dormagen for the purpose of providing a plot of land for an association's own facility. But it took a few more years until the 1st MGC Dormagen came to its own home system. In the years between 1987 and 1989, they first played on the miniature golf course in Kaarst-Büttgen. In October 1992, the city of Dormagen in the Hackenbroich district issued the building permit for the new miniature golf course. This was then opened in May 1996.

Two years after its completion, the facility was the location of a major event for the first time. In 1998, together with the BGSV Kerpen, the 49th German Miniature Golf Championships for women and men were held on the course. In 2001 and 2004 Bundesliga match days were also held in Hackenbroich.

Under the new name MGC Dormagen-Brechte, a new, very promising mini golf project with performance and club life on the local course started in Dormagen. In the first year of the club, the first men's team was able to celebrate another great national success. With the German team championship title they managed to climb the winners' podium in the Bundesliga again. Another European Cup participation followed at the end of the year.

The association currently has almost 50 members. The association is currently enjoying membership growth and the establishment of a new youth department. Every year a club championship takes place on the facility, the mode of staging varies from year to year.

Teams

The first men's team of the club played continuously from 1978 to 1995 in the highest German league on the miniature golf system. Since the amalgamation of the game systems (combination) in 1995 and the introduction of the superordinate 1st Bundesliga in mini golf, the team was represented in the Bundesliga until 2005. In 2005 he was relegated to the 2nd Bundesliga. After a year in the second division, the promotion to the upper house followed after the relegation game. Since 2007, the first men's team has been playing in the top German division again. In 2008 the team won the German team championship.

The 2nd men's team currently plays in the 2nd Bundesliga North. In the first year after being promoted to the regional league in 2008, the team took first place. However, they did not participate in the relegation games to the 2nd Bundesliga. This was followed by two more good years in the Regionalliga (2nd and 1st place) before the decision was made to move up to the 2nd Bundesliga North as first place. The second team forms a substructure to the first men's team, in which young players are regularly involved.

With the club merger in 2008, a third club team was founded. The 3rd team is currently playing in the NBV league (second highest division at regional level). In 2008 the team started in the district league. This was followed by 4 consecutive promotions in the district league, regional league, association league and finally in the NBV league.

A team from the club regularly takes part in the DMV Cup (comparable to the DFB Cup ).
