MOPCO (Misr Fertilizers Production Company) is an Egyptian fertilizer manufacturer . He operates several ammonia - urea plants in the Damietta free trade zone , which were built by TK Uhde .

The third plant went into operation in 2016, bringing the total capacity now to 2 million tons of urea per year.

26% of the shares are held by Agrium and 30.75% by ECHEM .

Due to protests during the 2011 revolution in Egypt , the plant was closed and only reopened four months later.
