Originally, the units were supposed to have a capacity of 13,000 TEU, later the order was initially rescheduled for 15,908 TEU units and then adjusted again to a capacity that was again significantly higher than 16,000 TEU. Two of the construction contracts were subsequently taken over by Eastern Pacific Shipping. In July 2014, the first of the ships was delivered with the MSC London . Upon completion, the series should include six units. All ships of the class are used in liner services between Europe and East Asia.

In terms of shipbuilding, the ships classified by Lloyd's Register of Shipping are designed like the majority of the ULCS series that are already in operation. The deckhouse is located approximately at the end of the forward third of the ship, which enables an improved line of sight and thus a higher forward deck loading, while the chimney and machinery are located in the rear third. The bunker tanks are arranged below the superstructure; they meet the relevant MARPOL regulations. The holds of the ships are closed with pontoon hatch covers. The maximum container capacity is given as 16,652 TEU. There are also connections for integral refrigerated containers . The berthing and casting off maneuvers are supported by a bow thruster .
