MV Bill (2008)

MV Bill (actually Alex Pereira Barbosa ; born January 3, 1974 in Rio de Janeiro ) is a Brazilian rapper .

Life

MV Bill grew up in the slum Cidade de Deus of Rio de Janeiro . He never gave away his real name - he only uses Alex Pereira Barbosa as a pseudonym. Before he switched to rap, he composed a samba for a samba school. Later he added the initials MV ( Mensageiro da Verdade - Ambassador of Truth).

At the Free Jazz Show in Brazil in 1999, he caused a scandal when he presented himself with a gun in his seatbelt - but later admitted it was a toy gun.

With Celso Athayde he published two books: Cabeça de Porco (2005) and Falcão: Meninos do Tráfico (2006).
