MWC 480 ( HD 31648 ) is a Herbig Ae / Be star in the Taurus star formation region in the constellation Taurus . A protoplanetary disk has formed around the star. Its X-rays are similar to those of an ordinary Herbig Ae star, but in contrast to these stars, the photoelectric absorption is ten times greater than one might expect. With the help of the ALMA telescope, complex hydrocarbons ( acetonitrile ), which are important for the development of life, were also found in a young star for the first time .
