Ma "sAviOr" Jae-yoon (born November 23, 1987 ) is a former professional South Korean e-athlete in the computer game Starcraft: Brood War . He played the Zerg breed for the CJ Entus team .
Career
In its prime (around mid-2006 to late 2007), sAviOr was considered the most successful and best StarCraft player ever. Among other things, between 2005 and 2007 he reached the finals of the MBCGame StarCraft League (MSL) five times in a row , of which he won three times. He also won the other major tournament series, the OnGameNet StarLeague (OSL), in 2006. After 2007 he was unable to continue his previous achievements.
"Bonjwa"
sAviOr he was the first StarCraft player to be referred to as "Bonjwa" by South Korean fans. In StarCraft, the term stands for a player who plays so dominantly over a long period of time that he is generally recognized as the strongest player.
In addition to sAviOr, BoxeR , iloveoov , NaDa and Flash are considered bonjwas in StarCraft: Brood War. sAviOr is the only player of the Zerg race, all others specialized in the Terran race.
Manipulation scandal and end of career
Due to his involvement in the KeSPA manipulation scandal , he was banned from the KeSPA for life in 2010 as one of eleven players involved in the scandal. In addition, his titles were subsequently revoked. In addition, he received a suspended sentence and had to do community service.
In a 2013 interview, sAviOr denied having actively postponed games, but admitted that it acted as a middleman between gamblers and betting fraudsters.
