Maarten Lafeber (born December 11, 1974 in Eindhoven ) is a Dutch professional golfer on the European Tour .

Career

Before he became a professional golfer in 1997 , he won the Dutch amateur championships twice and the Swiss and Spanish championships once each. Lafeber managed to qualify for the European Tour right away, but lost his eligibility to play at the end of the 1998 season. He then played on the Challenge Tour , where he won the Kenya Open in 1999 and qualified again for the big tour. In 2003, Lafeber was the first Dutchman to win the Dutch Open again since 1947 (Joop Rühl) . So far, this has been his only major tournament victory. Nevertheless, thanks to consistently good results in the European Tour Order of Merit 2005, he reached an impressive 25th place and improved his previous top ranking from 2003, in which he took 29th place. He was also represented in the European team of the Seve Trophy 2005 and has already played four times for his country in the World Cup .

Maarten Lafeber sold his own shares to fund his career and paid off his co-owners with a profit of 85% at the end of the 2004 season. He is based in Amsterdam.
