Mabrouk El Mechri

Mabrouk El Mechri (born September 18, 1976 in Versailles , France ) is a French director and screenwriter of Tunisian origin.

Life

His first work as a director and screenwriter were three short films that El Mechri directed in 1998, 2000 and 2003. In 2005 he made his feature film debut with the film Virgil . In 2006 a direct-to-DVD production with the title Stand Up! . He first appeared as an actor in 2007 and took on a role in the production of Gomez vs. Tavarès .

In 2008 he directed the film JCVD , which was nominated for the Palme d'Or . In this tragic comedy, lead actor Jean-Claude Van Damme plays himself. Since 2010 El Mechri has been involved as a director on the television series Maison close . In 2012 he made his Hollywood debut with the action thriller The Cold Light of Day .
