macOS Catalyst is software developed by the Californian company Apple to port applications originally programmed for the iOS or iPadOS mobile operating system to computers with the MacOS operating system. Above all, attention is paid to adapting the apps to the native screen resolution of macOS. Catalyst was presented for the first time at WWDC 2019 together with the MacOS Catalina operating system .

Applications

In the current macOS version BigSur , some system apps are set to Catalyst by default. This includes Apple Maps , iMessage , reminders and notes. Apple has also released a software development kit to make it easier for developers to customize their iOS apps for macOS.
