The Maccabi Ironi Ashdod ( Hebrew מכבי עירוני אשדוד) is an Israeli football club from Ashdod . The club's team is currently playing on the third tier of Israel , the League Aleph . Until 1999 the team played in the first division. The club, with the club colors yellow and blue, is also called "Dolphinim" or "Ironia".
history
Maccabi Ashdod was founded in 1961. At the end of the 1979/80 season, the team went to the fourth division for the first time. At the beginning of the 1981/82 season the team merged with Beitar Ashdod, and since then it has been called Maccabi Ironi Ashdod . At the end of the 1992/93 season, the team entered the first division in Israel for the first time.
At the end of the 1998/99 season, the community of Ashdod forced the union with Hapoel Ashdod. So a new club called " Moadon Sports Ashdod " was born. Many fans rejected the association and were upset about the change of the club's name and colors.

In April 2015, the club was restored by its fans. Club owned by fans. The alumni group registers for the last league in Israel (Liga Gimel). A new youth department was also established. In 2015/16 (the first season) the team went to the fourth division ( Liga Bet ).
