Mackay Trophy
The Mackay Trophy was donated in 1911 by Clarence H. Mackay, then head of the Postal Telegraph-Cable Company and the Commercial Cable Company . The award is administered by the American National Aeronautic Association (NAA) and is awarded once a year by the United States Air Force for the "most meritorious flight of the year".

criteria
The trophy is awarded for "Most Commendable Flight of the Year" by an Air Force member, private individual, or organization. Individuals are preferred over organizations. He is forgiven for chivalry and fearlessness; for exceptional initiative, ingenuity, and achieving outstanding results in combat and non-combat situations.
nomination
Within the US Air Force, the commanding officers are responsible for inspecting, assessing and reporting possible flights. This report is made by January 31 of the following year via the internal personnel hierarchy to the Chief of Staff of the Air Force .
selection
The winner is selected personally by the Chief of Staff.
