The Macmillan River is an approximately 240 km long right tributary of the Pelly River in the Yukon Territory in northwestern Canada .
It arises at the confluence of its two headwaters, the North Macmillan River and the South Macmillan River , and flows mainly in a westerly direction. The catchment area of the river extends over 13,800 km². Its mean discharge is 140 m³ / s.
The North Macmillan River has its source in the Hess Mountains , the South Macmillan River in the Selwyn Mountains . The South Macmillan River originates near the Macmillan Pass on the border with the Northwest Territories . The North Canol Road runs along the upper reaches of the South Macmillan River.
recreation
There are canoe - and kayak tours offered that start on the left source river South Macmillan River and over the Macmillan River to Pelly Crossing , lead, located a short distance below the mouth of the Macmillan River on the Pelly River and 16 take up 17 days. The degree of difficulty of the whitewater trails is III-IV.
