The Malagasy sticky disc bats ( Myzopoda ) form the only genus of the Myzopodidae family within the bats . It is endemic to Madagascar . It is named after the suction cup-like pads on the wrists and ankles. With the help of these balls, the bats can hold onto smooth surfaces by means of wet adhesion .

The genus includes two types:

The genus Myzopoda was long regarded as monotypical , with the Madagascan disc bat, which is common in eastern Madagascar, being the only species assigned. Due to morphological differences, Myzopoda schliemanni , which occurs in the west of the island, was described as a separate species in 2007. Genetic studies have now confirmed the delimitation.
