action
The educator Miss Clavel lives with twelve girls in an old house in Paris. All twelve use a washroom and sleep in a large dormitory. They often go for a walk in two rows in Paris, with the youngest, Madeline, doing the most nonsense. She is not afraid of mice or the tiger in the zoo and sometimes she's daring to make Miss Clavel desperate.
One night Miss Clavel wakes up with the idea that something is wrong. In the dormitory she finds Madeline crying and the doctor diagnoses appendicitis . Madeline is being operated on in the hospital. The other girls and Miss Clavell visit her after the operation. Madeline's hospital room is full of toys and the girl herself proudly shows off her surgical scar to the others. The next night, Miss Clavel wakes up again to find eleven girls crying in the dormitory. They also want to have the appendix removed. Miss Clavel turns off the dormitory light, amused.
