Madonna and Child in Angy

The sculpture Madonna and Child in the Catholic Church of St-Nicolas in Angy , a French commune in the Oise department in the Hauts-de-France region , was created around 1500. In 1912 the Gothic sculpture was added to the list of protected objects ( Base Palissy ) in France as Monument historique .

The 1.30 meter high oak sculpture is painted in color. The naked baby Jesus holds a dove in her hands and sits on Mary's right arm . His face turns towards the viewer. Mary wears a crown on her head, the many folds of her dress give her appearance a fullness.
