Madouri ( Greek Μαδουρή ( f. Sg. ), Pronunciation : [ maðuˈri ]) is a small island of the Tilevoides in the Ionian Sea . It is located opposite the town of Nydri on Lefkada and belongs to the Ellomenos district of the Lefkada municipality .
The wooded island is the private property of the Valaoritis family (Βαλαωρίτης), who also built their mansion here. A Gothic style church is also owned by the family.
The poet Aristotelis Valaoritis (1824–1879) grew up on the island and lived there; today it belongs to Nanos Valaoritis and Elena Karapanagiotis, the great-grandsons of the poet.
