The Dar al-Hadith al-Ashrafiyya ( Arabic دار الحديث الأشرفية, DMG Dār al-ḥadīṯ al-ašrafiyya ) in Damascus was one of the most prestigious institutions for the study of hadith in the Islamic world since the 12th century , which included an-Nawawi , al-Subki and al-Mizzi . It was located near the east gate of the citadel of Damascus Sultan Saladins .

The Dar-as-Sunna school (later renamed Dar al-Hadith) was established for the purpose of consolidating Sunni teaching, a task entrusted to Ibn ʿAsākir , the hadith scholar and historian of Damascus.

The Shafi'it Ibn as-Salāh (1181-1245) wrote his Muqaddima (Introduction to Hadith Science) there when he was the head of the institution.
