The Maerua Mall with the original Maerua Park and the planned Maerua Crossing shopping center in Windhoek currently (as of October 2016) form the second largest shopping center in Namibia . It is owned by Oryx Properties Limited . The market value of the mall and associated office buildings was estimated at more than N $ 1.2 billion in 2017 .

Around six million people visit the mall every year.

The Maerua complex consists of the following areas:

  • The Maerua Park , an office complex located in the shopping center, forms the initial part of the Maerua complex.
  • The Maerua Mall as a shopping center has a floor space of 40,000 and 122 shops. The Maerua Mall opened in 2001. A doubling of the sales area was achieved in 2006 through an expansion (phase II). Expansion phase III began in May 2012 and was completed in April 2014. This includes, among other things, 577 new parking spaces, an expanded shopping area of ​​5500 square meters with the new main tenant Woolworths and an office complex with eight floors. The cost is estimated at N $ 300 million. Phase III was completed in April 2014. It was opened by the Namibian President Hifikepunye Pohamba on April 23, 2014. The largest tenants include Checkers , Truworths , Stuttafords , Mr Price , Virgin Active and Ster Kinekor . In 2017 the mall was renovated again and expanded to include indoor sports. A family entertainment center was added in 2017 .
  • The Maerua Lifestyle Center is opposite the shopping center. The main tenant is the Maerua Superspar .

The Maerua Crossing shopping center, which is currently being planned, was originally scheduled to be completed in 2013 and cost around $ 220 million in Namibia. Construction has not yet started (as of December 2017).
