Maeve Anna Higgins (born March 24, 1981 in Cobh ) is an Irish journalist , book author, comedienne and film actress living in New York .

Life

Maeve Higgins was born in 1981 in Cobh on the south coast of County Cork. She has seven siblings, including only one brother. She presented her first show at the Ha'Penny Bridge Inn, a pub in Ireland that still regularly hosts open mics . She eventually left Ireland, moving first to London and later to New York City.

Higgins got her first leading role in a feature film in the horror comedy Extra Ordinary - Ghost Hunt for Beginners by Mike Ahern and Enda Loughman .

Higgins wrote for The Irish Times , works for the New York Times and is the host of the hit podcast Maeve in America: Immigration IRL.
