Magdalena Łazarkiewicz (born June 6, 1954 in Warsaw ) is a Polish film director and screenwriter .

Magdalena Łazarkiewicz is the sister of the director Agnieszka Holland . Father Henryk Holland was a socialist sociologist and publicist. Her husband Piotr Łazarkiewicz is also a director. Son Antoni Łazarkiewicz is a composer. Magdalena Łazarkiewicz graduated from the University of Wroclaw in 1976 with a degree in cultural studies. She then worked as a dramaturge and studied at the Silesian University of Katowice in the radio and television department.

In 1979 she began working as an assistant director to Andrzej Wajda for his film Die Mädchen von Wilko . In 1986 she made her first film as a director. Her best-known film is the youth drama The Last Bell from 1989. She received a special jury award for her film The Departure in 1992 at the Polish Film Festival in Gdynia .
