Magic Bytes was a game developer and publisher based in Gütersloh .

history

In 1984 the software company Micro-Partner was founded by Rolf Lakaemper, Thomas Meiertoberens and Marc Ullrich . In 1986 the founders fell out; Ullrich founded the games label Rainbow Arts , Lakaemper and Meiertoberens continued micro-partners and founded the games label Magic Bytes. With the help of freelancers, the company produced computer games for home computers such as the C64 and Amiga under this label . In addition to in-house developments, games from other studios were also sold. In cooperation with Falken-Verlag , Magic Bytes developed the educational software Börsenfieber in 1989 , which was sold abroad under the title Wall $ treethas been published. After Micro-Partner went bankrupt in 1991, the Magic Bytes label was sold to the R. Kleinegräber publishing house, which published further games under the label name until 2000 ( Sexy Droids , Penthouse Hot Numbers and Biing! ). The previously announced Magic Bytes games Industrial Rebound , European Journeys and American Journeys were never released.

In 2017, the former managing director Thomas Meiertoberens, who had meanwhile emigrated to the United States, opened a distribution company for computer games in Orlando that bears the name Magic Bytes.
