Magix photos on DVD |
Magix Fotostory (formerly Magix Photos on DVD or until 2011 Magix Photos on CD & DVD ) is a commercial slide show or picture show program from the German software company Magix . It is used to create audiovisual shows from images and videos, which can also be provided with music, texts and effects. The results can be output in different file formats, burned to CD , DVD or Blu-ray Disc or uploaded to the Internet.
operation area
The program is aimed at private end users. This is underlined by semi and fully automatic functions in the program, which are intended to take over or facilitate work steps. The functions included for image processing are only of limited suitability for professional use. Magix Fotostory is only available for computers with the Microsoft Windows operating system. There are Windows XP , Windows Vista , Windows 7 and Windows 8 in both 32bit and 64bit supported architecture.
function
Working with the software is divided into three basic steps: reading in the photos, creating the slide show and outputting the slide show.
import
The program supports common photo and video file formats that can be integrated into the project. This file selection is made using a typical Windows file selection.
Create a slide show
All selected image or video files are transferred to the main view of the program. This can be displayed in three different modes:
- Storyboard mode : all elements are listed one after the other and shown with a reduced preview image.
- Timeline mode : all photos, videos, texts and sounds are displayed on four different tracks in their chronological order. Each object is displayed wider in the track the longer it is displayed during playback.
- Overview mode : all photos are displayed in several rows. Any number of photos can be displayed simultaneously by zooming in, so that individual photos or groups of photos can be deleted or moved.
The images and videos can be arranged in any order and supplemented with the supplied transitions and effects. The rather simple image processing functions can be used to adjust individual photos, for example in terms of brightness or contrast, or to remove red eyes.
export
For playback on players or computers, playable discs can be burned to all common types of blanks. These can be automatically or manually provided with static or animated menus. The following overview lists the supported data carriers, formats and runtime with optimal quality:
Disc type | Duration with optimal quality | Playback on |
Video DVD | approx. 98 min | DVD player |
AVCHD disc | approx. 30 min | Blu-ray player, Sony Playstation 3 |
Disc type | Duration with optimal quality | Playback on |
Blu-ray disc | approx. 110 min | Blu-ray player |
AVCHD disc | approx. 160 min | Blu-ray player, Sony Playstation 3 |
In addition, output as a pure video file in these formats is possible:
The slide shows can be uploaded from the program as video files to YouTube , Flickr , Facebook and the company's own online album service from Magix.
distribution
It is sold through retail outlets, online shops and the Magix website. According to the manufacturer, it is the “best-selling photo software” in Germany in the “photo software” segment ( based on GFK Weekly TrendSetter software in the period from September 2008 to September 2009 ). The program has been tested in the past by various computer magazines and regularly occupies top positions in the slide show segment nationally and internationally.
