Magnetic Fields (Software Design) Ltd. , commonly referred to as Magnetic Fields, was an English software development studio founded in the late 1980s. Magnetic Fields initially programmed games for Amiga and Commodore 64 , which were published by Gremlin Graphics . The most successful games have also been converted for the PC .

Magnetic Fields was mainly known through racing games . These include the Lotus Challenge and Super Cars racing games.

The last game released was Rally Championship 2000 1999.

Magnetic Fields' most famous games for the Amiga include:

  • Lotus III - The Ultimate Challenge (1992)

  • Crystal Dragon (1994) (appeared on Black Legend )

The rally series for the PC

From 1994 Magnetic Fields only developed games for the PC. These were recently exclusively rally - simulations . In addition, the games were no longer published via Gremlin, but via Europress . These games were:

  • Network Q RAC Rally (1993)
  • Rally Racing (1996, published in Germany as Rally Racing '97 by Software 2000 )
  • International Rally Championship (1997)
  • Rally Championship 2000 (1999, published by Ubisoft , also known as Mobil 1 Rally or Rally Championship Edition 2000 )

After Magnetic Fields ended, some developers founded the new Studio Warthog and continued this series with the 2001 Rally Championship 2002 (also known as Rally Championship Extreme ). In 2004 this development team programmed the Richard Burns Rally, which is considered a realistic rally simulation . Ubisoft was the publisher for both games .
