The magnolia grove in Aschaffenburg is the largest magnolia grove in Bavaria and one of the largest in Germany. The area of today's grove was laid out in connection with an orangery built between 1784 and 1787 (today used as a restaurant and cabaret theater) for a botanical collection of plants and in 1810 consisted of four tree-lined squares around a central roundabout . A promenade ran between two rows of planters on the northern edge. Today the squares are planted with 42 tulip magnolias , probably of the Alexandrina variety.

The magnolia grove is located on the southern edge of the Schöntal Park , near the historic old town on Würzburger Straße. The northern edge of the grove was adorned with a statue of Flora where a stone Hercules statue now stands until a war memorial was erected in 1936. The Hunting Memorial, a work by the architect Ferdinand Keilmann and the sculptor Otto Gentil , on which sat an imperial eagle with a swastika in an acorn wreath, carved out of shell limestone, was accessed via a narrow staircase with double-long steps from Würzburger Strasse. Since these steps could only be overcome with two steps and therefore limping, the staircase was associated with Joseph Goebbels . This type of honor grove and the “Goebbelstreppchen” were removed in 1946 and the roundabout was restored.

During the short flowering period of the magnolias around March or April, the grove is a great attraction for those seeking relaxation and photographers. The Aschaffenburg Sand Church and the cabaret in the courtyard garden in the building of the former orangery are in the immediate vicinity .
