Magnus Sommar (theologian)

Magnus Sommar (born August 10, 1710 in Östra Hoby / Schonen ; † May 14, 1782 in Ingelstorp / Schonen) was a Swedish Lutheran clergyman and scholar.

Life

Sommar studied from 1728 in Lund , where he received his doctorate in 1734 for master's and in 1738 the ordination received. In 1743 he was accepted as a lecturer in the Philosophical Faculty. In 1745 he became adjunct of the municipalities of Stävie and Lackalänga. In 1760 Sommar was given the parish in Ingelstorp and Valleberga and also officiated as provost ( kontraktsprost ). In 1772 Sommar was made a doctor of theology.

Sommar was a well-known theologian of his time and possessed extensive scientific knowledge, which he found in his treatise De duplici peccato in Spiritum Sanctum inchoato et consummato nova ratione a celeb, which was directed against the German theologian Johann Gottlob Carpzov . Carpzovio explicato (1749) demonstrated.

The son Jöns Sommar (1769–1843) became pastor in Håslöv.
