Magnus Tieffenbrucker

Magnus Tieffenbrucker (III.) , Also Magno Dieffopruchar (* 1580 ; † 1631 ) is one of the most important lute and viola makers in Venice .

Magnus, who comes from the famous Tieffenbrucker family of instrument makers , worked in Venice all his life and ran a workshop there. The Musées lausannois and the Germanisches Nationalmuseum have preserved lutes by Magno Tieffenbrucker. Many renaissance lutes from the Tieffenbrucker workshop were bought up in the 17th century and v. a. in France converted to baroque lutes or theorbs .
