Mahlkönig ( proper spelling : MAHLKÖNIG) is a brand of the Swiss company Hemro International AG and is one of the market leaders in the field of coffee and espresso grinders for professional users. The mills are developed by the company's own R&D departments and manufactured in the Hamburg factory. Sales are carried out both directly from Hamburg and via our own branches in the USA and Asia, as well as via a global network of dealers and service partners. MAHLKÖNIG supplies coffee shop chains, coffee roasters, catering companies, retail and wholesale companies, health food stores and individual customers around the world. MAHLKÖNIG is the official espresso grinder sponsor of the World Barista Championship and World Coffee in Good Spirits for the period 2018 to 2020.

history

In 1924 Stawert Mühlenbau GmbH & Co. KG was founded. In 1960, the company began focusing on grinding food, especially coffee. 1999 saw the establishment of the US subsidiary MAHLKOENIG Inc. in California. In 2000 the world's first "grind-on-demand" espresso grinder K60ES was introduced. In 2005 the name was changed to MAHLKÖNIG GmbH & Co. KG. The same year saw the introduction of the K30 "grind-on-demand" espresso grinder; and the K30 was awarded the Red Dot Design Award . In 2007 the company merged with the Swiss mill manufacturer Ditting under the umbrella of HEMRO AG.

In 2008 the K30 Twin "grind-on-demand" espresso grinder was launched; and the award of the K30 TWIN with the IF Design Award . In 2007, the management of the Songwa Estates coffee farm began in collaboration with LaMarzocco and Probat. In 2009 the end-user “grind-on-demand” mill Vario Home was launched. In 2011 the grinding disc production at the company's headquarters in Hamburg was expanded, and a new production hall with an area of ​​around 1,500 m² was built. In 2012 the Italian espresso grinder brand Anfim was integrated into HEMRO AG. 2015 saw the introduction of the PEAK espresso grinder. In 2016 the strategic cooperation with the coffee grinder brand HeyCafé began. In 2018 HeyCafé was integrated into the HEMRO group of companies. The name of the former MAHLKÖNIG GmbH & Co. KG was changed to Hemro Manufacturing GmbH and all group-wide functions were taken over by Hemro International AG in Bachenbülach, Switzerland. The same year saw the introduction of the E65S - the first "Next Generation" espresso grinder.
