Mahmoud Javadipour (born September 8, 1920 in Tehran ; † November 27, 2012 in Munich ) was a Persian / Iranian painter, graphic artist , illustrator, calligrapher, educator, art professor and textbook author.

Act

Javadipour was one of the pioneers of modern art in Iran. Together with his colleagues Hossein Kazemi, Ahmad Esfandiari and his friend Houshang Adjoudani, he founded an art and culture forum called "Apadana" in Tehran in 1949, the first gallery of its time in Iran.

He was best known for his works in the areas of oil painting, printmaking and logo design. Javadipour is one of the fathers of modern graphics in Iran. From the 1950s to the 1970s he created many company logos and illustrations for various magazines (e.g. the logos for the national Iranian oil company, Kharazmi Verlag, Encyclopædia Iranica , etc.)

Life

He graduated from the German-Iranian technical school in Tehran. In 1947 he finished his painting studies at the Art Academy of Tehran University. He then traveled to Germany as the first foreign art student after the Second World War and continued his studies in fine arts at the Munich Art Academy in Charles Crodel's studio . Javadipour was shaped by the art movements Impressionism, Expressionism and the Bauhaus, but understood how to combine his new perspective with the art of his homeland. So he was able to influence Iranian art.

Mahmoud Javadipour was the second child of his parents and had three siblings.
