Maik Krannig

Maik Krannig (born March 6, 1965 ) is a former German racing cyclist .

Athletic career

In 1982 he appeared for the first time with the 2nd place at the GDR youth championships in sprint ; he lost the final to Bill Huck . Krannig's greatest success was winning the bronze medal at the UCI Track World Championships for Juniors in the Sprint 1982 in Italy . He started for SC Cottbus . In 1987 he was appointed to the GDR national team for a series of competitions in rail sprint in the Soviet Union .

After moving to the men's class, he won a few more track races, especially in the Werner-Seelenbinder-Halle in Berlin , but could not prevail in the performance class against domestic competitors such as Michael Huebner or Lutz Heßlich . He had his best result in the men's category with second place in the 1985 Polish Grand Prix , where he competed for the GDR national team. At the end of 1988 he ended his career.

Professional

Today (as of 2020) Krannig runs the company " Rad & Reifen Maik Krannig " near Cottbus .
