Maikel Steven Renfurm (born July 8, 1976 in Paramaribo , Suriname ) is a former Dutch football player and current coach .
Club career
Maikel Renfurm was born in Suriname and grew up in the Netherlands. There he played in his youth for the amateur club Dynamo ´67 Rijswijk, before he moved to the first division club Sparta Rotterdam in 1994 when he was only 18 years old . After four years, he went to league rivals NEC Nijmegen in 1998 , where he played for two years. Then he moved to the Icelandic record champions KR Reykjavík and was involved in the championship again with 7 games and one goal at the end. In 2001 Maikel Renfurm worked in Great Britain and played for the Scottish first division club FC St. Mirren until the summer . The Dutchman then came to Germany and played one season with Rot Weiss Ahlen in the 2nd Bundesliga . In 2002 Renfurm moved to the Danish second division club Herfølge BK and celebrated with his team at the end of the season promotion to the Danish Super League . After that, the midfielder only played for Dutch amateur teams. First for the reserve of his former club Sparta Rotterdam, then for FC Kranenburg and for VV Haaglandia and Voorschoten '97 under coach John de Wolf . In the 2010/11 season he was on the pitch for RKVV Westlandia for the last time.
Coaching career
After the end of his active career, Maikel Renfurm became an assistant trainer at RKVV Westlandia. He trains the second team there.
