Maiko Kano ( Japanese 狩 野 舞 子 , Kano Maiko ; born July 15, 1988 in Mitaka ) is a Japanese volleyball player . She won the bronze medal at the 2012 Olympics.
Career
Kano began her career at the "Practical High School Hachiōji " ( Hachiōji jissen kōtō-gakkō ). Her older sister Miyuki played for Japan at the 2008 Olympic tournament . She came to Hisamitsu Springs herself in 2007 and reached the Japanese Cup final in the same year. In 2009 she made her debut in the Japanese national team , with whom she finished third at the Asian Cup . In 2010 there was the same result at the World Cup . She then went to Minerva Volley Pavia in the Italian league for one season . The 2011 Asian Cup ended Kano with Japan in second place. In the same year she moved to the Turkish first division side Beşiktaş Istanbul . In 2012 she took part in the Olympic Games in London and won the bronze medal.
