The Main Bridge Oberndorf is a structure on the federal highway 70 , which is located in the Schweinfurt district of Oberndorf in Lower Franconia . At kilometer 10 of the autobahn, it spans the Main at kilometer 329.74 and the foreland areas. The bridge lies between the connection points Schweinfurt / Bergrheinfeld and Schweinfurt -Hafen.

The structure is curved in plan and consists of two parallel bridges for the two directional lanes, each with two lanes and one hard shoulder. The northern bridge also crosses a footpath and bike path on the outer edge. It was built from February 1968 to December 1970 for the equivalent of 1.9 million euros as part of the new construction of a motorway-like federal road 26 to the southern bypass of Schweinfurt. The southern bridge was built 23 years later, from March 1993 to November 1994 for the equivalent of 5.9 million euros, for the construction of the second carriageway on the route that was stepped up to form the A 70 motorway in 1981. In 1995 the older construction was renovated at a cost of 2.6 million euros.

The structural system of the prestressed concrete bridges consists in the longitudinal direction of a continuous beam with six fields and a maximum span of 110.0 m at the main opening above the Main. In the transverse direction, the two superstructures have a box-girder cross-section with a constant structural height. Only above the two river pillars on the Main does the construction height increase in a cove-shaped manner for static reasons . The bridges are prestressed in the longitudinal and transverse directions .

The south bridge is 374 m long and has spans of 43 m, 50 m, 72 m, 110 m, 54 m and 44 m from west to east. The construction height varies between 2.3 m and 5.2 m. The western abutment of the north bridge is offset to the east, which means that the structure is slightly shorter than the south bridge. The construction height varies between 3.15 m and 4.95 m.

The bridge substructure in the foreland consists of reinforced concrete pillars at the north bridge and reinforced concrete slabs at the south bridge. The components have massive cross-sections and are based on bored piles .
