Maja Iwanowa (weightlifter)

Maja Iwanowa ( Bulgarian Мая Иванова ; born June 5, 1991 ) is a Bulgarian weightlifter .

Career

She was Vice-Junior European Champion in 2009. In 2012 she took part for the first time in the European championships for active athletes and came ninth in the class up to 53 kg. At the European Championships in 2013 she won the bronze medal. In 2014 Iwanowa was able to win bronze again at the European Championships . At the world championships in the same year she finished 13th. In 2015, however, she was tested positive for stanozolol during a training check shortly before the European championships, as were ten other members of the Bulgarian national team and banned for nine months.
