Maja Persson Nylén (* 20th November 2000 in Avesta ) is a Swedish ice hockey player who since the summer of 2015 at Leksands IF in the Svenska damhockeyligan on the position of the defender plays.

Career

Nylén Persson learned to play ice hockey at Skogsbo SK before moving to Leksands IF in the Svenska damhockeyligan in 2014 at the age of just 13 . There she completed 22 games in the top division of Sweden in her first season. Since then she has been a permanent member of the team and played her 100th game for the team at the age of 18 in the 2017/18 season.

International

At the international level, Nylén Persson played for the first time at the U18 World Junior Championship in 2016 as a 15-year-old for the Swedish U18 national team. Further appearances at the U18 World Junior Championships in 2017 and 2018 followed . She won the bronze medal in 2016 and the silver medal in 2018. In 2018, she was also appointed to the tournament's all-star team. The defender also took part in the 2016 Winter Youth Olympic Games in Lillehammer , Norway , where she won the gold medal.

Nylén Persson made his debut for the women's national team at the age of 16. She took part with the team in the 2017 Women's World Cup. A year later she was appointed to the Swedish squad for the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang , South Korea .
