The 10th ice hockey world championships of the U18 women of the International Ice Hockey Federation IIHF were the ice hockey world championships of the year 2017 in the age group of under-eighteen year olds (U18). Between January 7 and 29, 2016, a total of 24 national teams took part in the four tournaments of the top division, division IA and the newly introduced division IB as well as qualification for the same in the following year.

The U18 World Championship of the top division took place from January 7th to 14th 2017 in the Czech cities of Zlín and Přerov . The games were played in two halls, the 529-seat PSG aréna in Zlín and the Přerov aréna with a capacity of up to 3,000 seats. A total of 11,919 spectators attended the 21 tournament games, which corresponded to an average of 567 per game.

Eight national teams took part in the tournament, playing in two performance-graded groups of four teams each. The two groups were composed according to the positions of the national teams at the 2016 World Cup according to the following key:

After the group games in the preliminary round, the group first and second in group A qualified directly for the semi-finals. The third and fourth of the same group reached the quarter-finals. In group B, this applied to group first and second. The teams in the quarterfinals each played a qualifying game for participation in the semi-finals. The third and fourth in Group B contested a best-of-three round for seventh place and relegation to Division IA.

The two venues of the top division, the PSG aréna and the Zimní stadion Přerov , were already venues for the U18 women's ice hockey world championship in 2012 .

Relegation round
