Majic Ship

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Majic Ship was an American band that peaked briefly in the late 1960s.

history

The Majic Ship, which emerged from the garage band formation The New Primitives , consisted of the students Philip Polimeni (guitar), Tommy Nikosey (guitar), Rob Buckman (drums), Gus Riozzi (bass, organ) and Mike Garrigan (vocals). Former singer and music manager at the time, Johnny Mann saw the band perform live and secured a record deal. Two singles ( Night Time Music and Hummin ' ) became local hits in the New York City area and garnered occasional national attention. In 1969 the LP named after the band was recorded, the ten pieces of which combined elements of hard rock , pop and psychedelic rock and, in their entirety, were reminiscent of Vanilla Fudge's New York colleagues . In 1971 plans for another LP as well as the entire existence of the band were destroyed by a fire in the rented rehearsal room in Staten Island , which destroyed the entire property of the uninsured musicians. Only guitarist Nikosey remained in the music business.

In 1997 a complete edition of all 21 titles recorded by the group was published.
