Makarios Tuczapski († 1549 in the Kingdom of Poland ) was the Orthodox Bishop of Lwów (1540-1549).

Life

Tuczapski was a Ruthenian merchant from Lwów. In 1535 he was appointed vicar (representative) of the Metropolitan of Kiev for Galicia. In 1539 King Sigismund I appointed him at the request of the nobility, the clergy and the citizens of Lwów, Galicia and Podolia as the first bishop of Galicia for 80 years, with his seat in Lwów. He convened a synod of the Orthodox clergy to determine the structures and rights of the new eparchy. In 1540 he was introduced to the office by Metropolitan Makarios of Kiev.

In 1547 he and other clergymen signed an invitation to support the construction of the Dormition Church in Lwów. His successor was elected in 1548; shortly before that he probably died.
