Makers (novel)

Makers is a novel by Cory Doctorow . The novel was published in October 2009 and was nominated for the Prometheus Award in 2010 .

The book is based on a near future story of Lester and Perry, two hardware hackers, and Suzanne, a journalist. Lester and Perry convert devices or print things out using 3D printers in order to sell them. Kettlewell, the CEO of Kodak and Duracell becomes aware of this and sends the journalist Suzanne on site to report on them on her blog. The manufactured products by Lester and Perry are then manufactured and sold in large quantities. After that, Lester and Perry open an interactive museum and are sued by Disney. Since they counterclaim, there is an out-of-court settlement and Lester moves to Disney to make new products for them.

The book is divided into four acts.
