Life

His mother and father Slavica Karmel had no relation to classical music. Still, they supported him. It wasn't long before his talent was recognized and he was accepted at the state music school in Šibenik. Marija Sekso was one of his early teachers . During this instructive time, the war in Croatia fell in 1990. In 1993 he first took part in a competition in Zagreb , from which he emerged as the winner. Then he studied at the Music Academy in Zagreb, where he was tutored by the famous Croatian pianist Vladimir Krpan , and in 1998 he did his thesis with him. In the same year he enrolled for a year of study in Budapest with Lászlo Baranyayo . This was followed by studies in Paris in 2000. In the same year he was able to record his first album, entitled Gesten. As an award he received the Porin , which is the Classical BRIT Awards of Croatia, so to speak . In 2001 Maksim met Tonci Huljic, also a musician and composer, who introduced him to the impresario Mel Bush. Upon meeting Maksim, he was immediately impressed by his charisma and the first recorded crossover album, The Piano Player, was a huge success in 2003. In it he combines classic with rock, pop and techno elements. His third album, A New World, was released in early 2006. He performed in Salzburg, Vienna, Geneva, Budapest and St. Peterburg, among others. Mrvica has composed numerous pieces for Croatian TV (HRT) and has also worked with the Zagreb Symphony Orchestra.
