Classical BRIT Awards

The Classical BRIT Awards are an annual award ceremony in the UK dedicated to classical music . They are the equivalent of the BRIT Popular Music Awards .

The awards are organized by the Association of the British Phonographic Industry (BPI). They were first awarded in 2000 " in recognition of the achievement of classical music artists and the increasing sales of classical music in Great Britain ". The award ceremony takes place annually in May at the Royal Albert Hall in London.

Prizes will be voted on by "an academy made up of leading managers from industry, the media, the British Association of Record Dealers (BARD), members of the musicians' union, lawyers, promoters and orchestra leaders ". The "Album of the Year" is voted on by the listeners of the British radio station Classic FM .
