Malacia
The term malacia (also Malacie and Latin Malacia ), from ancient Greek μαλακία malakía , German 'softness, disease' , describes in medicine an abnormal, pathological softening or dissolution of tissue .
Together with the technical term for the affected organ or tissue, the disease name results:
- Bronchomalacia
- Chondromalacia patellae
- Encephalomalacia
- Keratomalacia , softening and opacity of the cornea
- Laryngomalacia
- Osteomalacia
- Tracheomalacia
