Malcolm Campbell (born November 10, 1943 in Shrewsbury ) is a British classical scholar .

Malcolm Campbell attended Boroughmuir High School in Edinburgh and then studied at the University of Edinburgh and at Balliol College of University of Oxford Classical Philology. After completing his master’s degree (with honors ), he taught as a lecturer at the University of St Andrews from 1968 , where he received his doctorate in 1975 and was appointed Reader in Greek in 1984 . From 1987 to 1991 he worked as chairman at the university.

Campbell's main research area is Greek literature. His publications are particularly concerned with literature from Hellenism to the imperial era . He published indices and lexica on the Argonautica of Apollonios of Rhodes (1983), on Triphiodoros (1985), on Moschos and Bion of Smyrna (1987) and on the Phainomena des Aratos of Soloi (1988). His comments and research on Quintus of Smyrna and Apollonios of Rhodes, as well as his edition of the Europa des Moschos (1991), were well received by experts.

For advanced Greek students he compiled a collection of texts entitled A Greek Prose Reading Course for Post-Beginners (1997). In the four parts he put together excerpts from court speeches, philosophical texts, political speeches and historical works of classical Attic prose. His vocabulary index Classical Greek Prose (1998), which appeared shortly afterwards, is an addition.
