Bion of Smyrna
Bion of Smyrna (Greek Βίων ὁ Σμυρναῖος Bíōn ho Smyrnaíos ) was a late Hellenistic poet. He lived around 100 BC Chr.
Bion is said to have been born in Phlossa, near the city of Smyrna in Asia Minor . His work belonged predominantly to bucolic poetry , modeled on Theocritus . Little of it has survived, such as a 98-verse epitaph for Adonis , a lament for Aphrodite's lover, written in hexameters .
