Malcolm Mooney

Malcolm Mooney (* 1944 ) is an American musician and visual artist . He was the singer on several albums of the German Krautrock band Can .

education

Mooney studied fine arts at various universities, including the University of Cologne, Boston University, the School of Visual Arts New York and California State University. He exhibits his pieces mainly in the USA. Mooney completed his academic career in Boston in 1979 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts and in 1987 with a Master of Fine Arts from California State University.

Malcolm Mooney is less known in Europe and especially in Germany for his works of art than for his voice. Mooney can be heard on Can’s early recordings, including her debut album Monster Movie and its predecessor, later released under the name Delay in 1968 . In 1970 he left Germany for the United States and was replaced at Can by Damo Suzuki , but returned to Germany in the mid-1980s and recorded the album Rite Time with Can .
